This first episode takes you from the New York City line through Westchester Exit 7A. Ever wonder why the New York State Thruway has erected the “Falling Rock” signs? There is a tragic story to be told.

Always wondered why the Saw Mill River was so named? I did and now we will both understand why. Beyond this exit I will explain why Henry Hudson was a colossal failure and in defeat named a river after himself. This segment will take you across the Hudson River into Rockland County

This segment accompanies us as we pass through the Nyacks, the headwaters of the Hackensack River and the unfortunately named towns of Suffern and Sloatsburg (No offense to the residents, but you should really change the town’s name).

We talk about how General George Washington climbed to the top of Harriman Park and lost his timepiece, how wild is the wildlife here and why the town of Tuxedo earned its name and its place in the history of apparel.

We learn that the 1969 Woodstock Festival took place no where near Woodstock, New York, and my surprise encounter with a rattlesnake while hiking in these very hills and a little about the Storm King Arts Center.
